Other Test Steps

C# Script​

Execute custom C# code within the test context.

// Read a variable, transform it, write it back

JavaScript​

Execute JavaScript (Google V8 engine) for custom assertions, data transformation, and Postman/Insomnia script compatibility.

Run Action​

Calls a named Reusable Action defined at the project level.

  • Action Name – select from the drop-down list
  • Input Parameters – key/value pairs passed to the action

Data Transfer​

Copies a value from one variable to another, optionally with a transformation.

SQL Query​

Executes a SQL query against a configured database connection and maps column values to variables.

SELECT customer_id, email FROM customers WHERE name = '{customerName}'

NoSQL Query​

Executes a query against a MongoDB (or other NoSQL) data source.

Shell Script​

Runs a shell command (bash on Linux/macOS, PowerShell or cmd on Windows).

Wait​

Pauses test execution for a fixed number of milliseconds.

Wait Message​

Waits for a message to arrive on a Kafka topic or message queue within a timeout.

Send Mail / Receive Mail​

Sends or receives email via SMTP/IMAP. Useful for testing email notification flows.

JWT​

Generates a signed JWT token or validates an existing token against expected claims.

OAuth 2.0 Get Token​

Performs an OAuth 2.0 client credentials or authorization code flow and stores the access token in a variable.

Service Simulation Control​

Starts or stops a simulated server defined in the workspace.

Service Simulation Update​

Updates the response data of a running simulated server at runtime.

Copy Files​

Copies one or more files to another location. Useful for pre-test setup or collecting artifacts.

Data Generation​

Generates test data values:

  • Random string/integer/GUID
  • Sequential number with configurable increment
  • DateTime with offset

Window Service Control​

Starts or stops a Windows Service (Windows only). Useful for integration tests that require a service to be running.

Loop​

Repeatedly executes a set of child steps until an exit condition is met, a timeout expires, or the maximum iteration count is reached. Supports configurable comparison modes, delays, and safety limits.

Conditional​

Evaluates a condition and executes one of two branches (Then/Else) of child steps. Supports else-if chains through nesting. Supports the same comparison modes as Loop.
