Project Organization

An Aethrix automation project (.aprj) organizes tests in a tree structure:

Project
├── Test Suite A
│ ├── Test Case 1
│ │ ├── Step: Send Request
│ │ └── Step: Assert
│ └── Test Case 2
└── Test Suite B
└── Test Case 3

Test Suites

  • Group related test cases together (e.g., by feature, user story, or API service).
  • Can be run independently or as part of the full project run.
  • Support data-driven configuration to repeat all contained cases with different parameter sets.

Test Cases

  • A test case is a single scenario, e.g., "Create a new customer successfully".
  • Each case runs its steps in order.
  • A case can be marked as sequential or parallel relative to sibling cases.

Parallel vs Sequential

  • By default, test cases within a suite run sequentially.
  • Enable parallel execution at the suite level to run cases concurrently and reduce total run time.

Variables and Environments

Variables can be scoped to:

  • Project – shared across all suites and cases
  • Environment – per-environment overrides (dev, staging, prod)
  • Suite – available only within the suite
  • Case – available only within the case
