Test a SOAP Service

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. In API Playground, expand the service tree and select a SOAP operation.
  2. The Request tab shows:
    • Endpoint URL – pre-filled from the WSDL service binding.
    • SOAP Action – automatically set from the WSDL operation definition.
    • Request Body – a typed XML editor pre-populated with the operation's input message schema.
  3. Fill in the required fields in the request body.
  4. In the Authentication tab, configure Basic auth or WS-Security if required.
  5. Click Send.
  6. Inspect the SOAP response envelope in the Response panel.

SOAP 1.1 vs SOAP 1.2

Aethrix Studio automatically detects the SOAP version from the WSDL binding (SOAP 1.1 or SOAP 1.2) and sets the correct Content-Type and action format.

SOAP Faults

When the service returns a SOAP Fault, the response panel highlights the fault code and fault string.

Limitations

For every WSDL / XSD construct that Aethrix degrades or rejects — with an example, what you see in Studio, and how severe it is — see Import Diagnostics — Unsupported structures & fallbacks (SOAP tab). This is the single, exclusive reference.

Tips

  • Use the Object Editor to navigate and edit complex XML request structures visually.
  • Check Diagnostics if the service returns unexpected errors.
