Introduction to Aethrix Studio

Aethrix Studio is a desktop IDE for API testing, test automation, and service simulation. It provides a single environment where you can import API specifications, send requests interactively, build automated test projects, simulate services, and run everything from the command line in CI/CD pipelines.

Who Is This For?

RoleTypical Workflow
QA EngineerImport APIs, send manual requests to explore behavior, build automated regression suites, run load tests
DeveloperExplore REST, SOAP, GraphQL, Kafka, and gRPC APIs, debug request/response cycles, build API extension packages
DevOps / CI EngineerRun test projects from the command line (aeth run), integrate with pipelines, generate JUnit reports

Key Capabilities

Manual API Testing

Send HTTP, SOAP, GraphQL, Kafka, and gRPC requests interactively. Import API definitions from OpenAPI, WSDL, OData, GraphQL schemas, Kafka Schema Registry, or Protobuf (gRPC). Inspect headers, body, status codes, and response times with a visual object tree editor.

Test Automation

Create multi-step automated test projects (.aprj files). Organize tests into suites and cases with setup/teardown, use environment variables, drive tests with external data (CSV, Excel, SQL), and produce detailed execution reports.

Supported test step types include HTTP requests, C# scripts, shell scripts, SQL/NoSQL queries, JWT generation, OAuth2 flows, email send/receive, file operations, and more.

Service Simulation

Configure simulated HTTP, SOAP, and gRPC servers with scripted responses and conditional reply logic. Ideal for offline testing of systems that depend on unavailable external services, or for reproducing specific API behaviors deterministically.

API Extension Designer

Build API extension packages (.pkg) from OpenAPI, WSDL, OData, GraphQL, Kafka, or gRPC/Protobuf specifications. Extensions add typed request/response support, auto-completion, and documentation to Aethrix Studio. Publish extensions to a repository for team sharing.

AI Assistant

An AI-powered assistant panel helps you explore APIs, build test cases, diagnose issues, and identify untested coverage areas — all through natural language interaction.

CLI & CI/CD (aeth)

Run everything from the command line: execute test projects, generate JUnit reports, manage extensions, start service simulators, and authenticate with personal access tokens for headless CI/CD pipelines.
