Installation

Aethrix Studio is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS as a standalone desktop application.

System Requirements

ItemMinimum
OSWindows 10/11 (x64 or arm64), Ubuntu 22.04+ (x64), macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon or Intel)
RAM4 GB
Disk500 MB free space
.NET RuntimeIncluded in the installer

Windows

  1. Download the latest installer from the Aethrix website. Two builds are published — aethrix-studio-win-x64-<version>.exe and aethrix-studio-win-arm64-<version>.exe. Each one installs only on its own architecture; if you try the wrong one, the installer will tell you and stop.
  2. Run the .exe installer and follow the setup wizard.
  3. Launch Aethrix Studio from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut.

Linux

Two packages are published for x64 Linux. There is no arm64 Linux build.

AppImage — no installation, no root:

chmod +x aethrix-studio-linux-x64-<version>.AppImage
./aethrix-studio-linux-x64-<version>.AppImage

tar.gz — extract, then either run the app in place or install it:

tar -xzf aethrix-studio-linux-x64-<version>.tar.gz
cd Aethrix_Studio_<version>
./bin/Aethrix # run without installing

To integrate with the desktop, use one of the bundled installers (they read bin/ and the desktop entry next to them):

sudo ./install-all-users.bash # system-wide, /usr/share/aethrix-studio
./install-current-user.bash # current user only, ~/.local/share/aethrix-studio

macOS

  1. Download the disk image for your Mac:
    • Apple Silicon (M-series): aethrix-studio-macos-arm64-<version>.dmg
    • Intel: aethrix-studio-macos-x64-<version>.dmg
  2. Open the disk image, drag Aethrix Studio to Applications.
  3. On first launch, right-click → Open to bypass Gatekeeper.

There is one image per architecture rather than a single universal build, so pick the one that matches your Mac. On Apple Silicon, an Intel image still runs under Rosetta 2, but the Apple Silicon image is the native one.

CLI Tool (aeth)

The CLI is bundled with the Studio installation. Verify by running:

aeth version

You should see the version number, build date, and framework information.

Unlock the 14-Day Pro Trial

Every new Aethrix account can unlock 14 days of Pro features and 100 AI credits by completing a short tutorial in the Aethrix Account Portal. No credit card required.

  1. Create an account: in Aethrix Studio open My Account and click Create account, or register on the account portal of your data residency.
  2. Sign in to the portal. While the trial has not been redeemed, the home page shows the card Complete the tutorial to unlock Pro trial. After you sign in, Aethrix Studio's account page also points at that card while the trial is still available.
  3. Follow its 6 steps — about two minutes. They walk you through importing an API description in Aethrix Studio and sending one real request with it; that request is what activates the trial.
  4. Sign out of Aethrix Studio and back in to pick up the Pro features. The card on the portal home page changes to Pro trial is active!.

The 100 AI credits are Ora's allowance: requests draw credits based on the model behind them and the work each one does — heavier models draw more — see Quota and Credits. Credits are only spent when Ora runs through the Aethrix AI Gateway; a profile with your own provider key spends nothing. Until the gateway starts debiting the trial balance, the figure shown with the trial is a preview.

note

The tutorial is presented by the account portal, not by this documentation. It appears for 14 days from account creation — the same window the activation code is spendable in — and the portal stops showing it once the trial is redeemed or that window has passed.

Activating a License

After installation, activate your license:

aeth license /path/to/your-license.lic

Or use Settings → License in Aethrix Studio.

See License Management for details.
