General Settings

The General tab configures application-wide preferences that are not specific to a single service or editor: the display language, the CSV separator, automatic cleanup on shutdown, the default web browser used for UI automation, and where logs are written.

Language & Localization

Display Language

  • What it does: Selects the user-interface display language from the list of available languages (AvailableLanguages).
  • When to use: Choose the language you want Aethrix Studio to render its UI in.
  • How to set: Open the General tab → Language & Localization → Display Language, pick a language from the dropdown, changes auto-save on close.
attention

Changes of language settings won't take effect until application restarts.

The setting is currently marked "(coming soon)" in the UI — the list is shown but the language switch may not yet be fully applied.

CSV Separator

  • What it does: Sets the default field separator used when importing or exporting CSV files. Most countries use a comma; some European countries use a semicolon.
  • When to use: Change this when your region or your data files use a separator other than the default (comma), so CSV import/export parses columns correctly.
  • How to set: Open the General tab → Language & Localization → CSV Separator, type the separator character (e.g. , or ;), changes auto-save on close.

Application Behavior

Auto Clean

  • What it does: If enabled, Aethrix Studio cleans temporary folders (for example extracted packages and cached specs) when the application shuts down. Default value: false (disabled).
  • When to use: Enable it on shared or disk-constrained machines to keep temporary storage tidy, or disable it if you frequently restart and want to keep cached data for faster startup.
  • How to set: Open the General tab → Application Behavior → Auto Clean, toggle the switch, changes auto-save on close.

Test Automation Behavior

Smart Stop

  • What it does: Aborts a data-driven run after this many consecutive same-kind environment or authorization errors. Only environment-level faults (HTTP 502/503/504, timeout, connection refused, DNS, proxy) and authorization faults (HTTP 401/403, token/credential errors) trigger it — business failures (assertion rejects, HTTP 500, SOAP faults) never abort the run because those are the results the matrix exists to collect. Setting it to 0 disables smart-stop so all rows run.
  • When to use: Keep it enabled (default 5) to avoid wasting time in CI when the service is down or credentials are invalid across the board — continuing adds no information. Set it to 0 when you want every row to always execute.
  • How to set: Open the General tab → Test Automation Behavior → Smart Stop, set the threshold (0–100), changes auto-save on close. The CLI can override it per run with --smart-stop <n>.
remarque

Smart-stop is runtime behavior configuration, not a persisted test-case property. The value set here applies to every data-driven run in Studio; aeth run --smart-stop <n> overrides it for a single CLI run.

Default Web Browser (UI Automation)

Default Web Browser

  • What it does: Selects the default web browser used for Web UI Automation test steps. The dropdown lists the browsers detected on your system (SupportedBrowsers).
  • When to use: Choose the browser you want UI Automation steps to drive (for example when recording or replaying browser interactions).
  • How to set: Open the General tab → Web Browser → Default web browser, pick a browser from the dropdown, changes auto-save on close.
remarque

These settings apply to the Web UI Automation feature, which is in active development. Supported browsers and capabilities may change between releases.

Log Settings

Log Level

  • What it does: Sets the minimum severity of messages written to the log files (driven by the LogLevel enumeration).
  • When to use: Raise the level (e.g. to Warning/Error) to reduce log noise on healthy systems, or lower it (Verbose/Debug) when investigating a problem and you need fine-grained diagnostics.
  • How to set: Open the General tab → Log settings → Log file settings → Log Level, choose a level from the dropdown, changes auto-save on close.

Log Path

  • What it does: Sets the directory where Aethrix Studio writes its log files (Path).
  • When to use: Point it at a location you can easily reach (or a shared/network path for centralized collection) when you need to review logs or attach them to a bug report.
  • How to set: Open the General tab → Log settings → Log file settings → Log Path, edit the directory path, changes auto-save on close. Use the folder button next to the field (Open log folder in file explorer) to reveal the current log directory in your system file explorer.
